Intelligent wait time estimation
Intelligent Wait Time Estimation takes the millions of data points captured in Waitwhile when guests wait in line to train a machine learning model to learn the patterns in wait times. Our model will learn from many data points attached to a visit such as time of day, the number of servers available, party size, and more.
When to use Intelligent wait time estimation
Use intelligent wait time estimation when your queues are straightforward and predictable, or if you prefer simplicity.
Predictable Operations:
If your operations are fairly stable with consistent service times and staffing throughout the day.
Intelligent estimation uses simple averages, which may be sufficient if your wait patterns are predictable.
Simple Queue Structures:
If customers wait for the same type of service (e.g., a line for entry to an event) and no complex factors affect their wait.
Less Historical Data Available:
If your system is new or you don’t yet have enough historical data to leverage the classic estimator effectively.
Preference for Simplicity:
If you want a basic system with minimal configuration and management.

Configurations that could affect wait times
Timezone: If you have selected the wrong timezone, the models will assume peak hours will occur at the wrong time of day. To check your timezone go to Settings > Localization > Time zone
Business Type: The Intelligent wait time estimation model relies on businesses similar to yours. If you have this incorrectly set in your account, this could produce wait times that are not similar to your business. To check your business type go to Account overview > Account settings > Business information
