Waitwhile is a cloud-based platform, which means it requires an internet connection to function properly. The system relies on real-time data syncing to keep staff and guest information up to date across all devices.
Internet requirements
Waitwhile is designed to be lightweight and accessible—even on slower internet connections. For example, when the Visits page loads, it only downloads approximately 115 KB of data. Because this amount is so small, we don’t have any specific network speed requirements to recommend. As long as there is some internet connection, you should be able to use Waitwhile without issue.
However, the most common issues occur when the internet connection is unstable or completely lost. In these situations, inbound and outbound requests may fail, and data may not sync as expected. For the best experience, we strongly recommend using Waitwhile on a stable and reliable internet connection.
Does Waitwhile have an offline mode?
Waitwhile does not have a formal “offline mode” like some desktop or standalone applications. An active internet connection is required for the platform to function. If the app detects that it’s offline, it will display a warning and automatically retry actions to recover from shorter outages.
Web App: Requires an active internet connection at all times. It will not function while offline.
Mobile App: Also requires an active internet connection and will not function offline.
Best practices during outages
If your internet connection drops, follow these steps to minimize disruption:
Keep the app open — Avoid refreshing or restarting until the internet is restored.
Switch to cellular data if Wi-Fi is down.
Use manual processes (pen and paper, whiteboard) if no internet connection is available at all.
Restart your network equipment or contact your internet provider to resolve the outage quickly.
Verify data sync after the connection is restored to ensure all updates are captured.
